In today´s digital world, your brand's digital presence is your new resume; literally, everything revolves digitally, including digital marketing, freelancing, e-commerce stores, and e-learning. The majority of large companies today operate online, resulting in a high demand for remote jobs. So, if you aren´t established digitally, you’re missing out on the money train.

The big question, which actually sets the foundation upon which you can build your business, is the question of why your brand should matter to the public, why the public should patronize you and not someone else. Once you have the answers to these questions, that's the foundation upon which you should build.

The road might seem tough, but believe me when I say it's worth the struggle. Let´s take a look at some of the benefits that come along with establishing your brand's digital presence.

A successful brand needs to have something unique it should be known for, what the public should recognize your brand for, and this answer actually depends on you finding your niche. What are you an expert in? What do you want to be known for? Is it tech, writing, finance, business, etc.?

Having found your niche, you need people to patronize your brand, which brings about the next big question: Who is my target audience?  Are they small business owners, students, tech enthusiasts, or the working class? Finding your target audience is crucial for the success of your brand's digital presence.

Once you´ve acquired your target audience, the next step is choosing a voice that resonates with your brand. Are you formal, casual, humorous, or professional? Pick one that sticks and be consistent with it, and try to get better than the previous day. Take little steps daily towards improving, and watch your brand grow.

Now that we've gotten our priorities sorted out, let's move on to setting up your brand's digital presence. For me, establishing my digital presence initially involved building my own blog, but this approach may differ for you, as it ultimately depends on what your brand is about.

To gain exposure for your brand, you need a home base, which would serve as your brand's base of operation, which can either be a website or a social media profile, but it’s preferable that you have a website. This will serve as the center of attraction for your target audience, where they come to whenever they need a certain service from your brand.

Your website should consist of certain important pages that help your target audience understand what your brand is all about. Pages such as an ”About Me" page, a Contact page, a Privacy Policy page, a Portfolio, a Service page, and a blog.

The Power of Social Media

Social media is a key tool, and properly utilizing its potential is a significant advantage in establishing your brand’s digital presence. Let's take a look at some amazing social media platforms and strategize on the best ways to properly utilize them.

  • LinkedIn: Popularly known as a social media network for professionals, on this platform, build a profile highlighting your professional skills and your brand's services. Engage in relevant trends and conversations to increase discoverability, and consistently upload content that relates to your brand’s goals to attract your target audience.
  • Twitter/X: This platform thrives on real-time conversations and instant connections.
